Hardly. Current textbooks offer a chance to communicate from the beginning; however, there are no conversation courses at elementary levels since minimum structures, verb tenses and vocabulary is needed to be able to talk. At intermediate or advanced levels conversation comes spontaneously from topics discussed in class. Frustration arises when the topic is unknown to a student; therefore, dialogs and situations are based on syllabus-related or background-oriented topics.
